"DRUNK" RPI PALGHAR CHIEF, 2 OTHERS HELD FOR ASSAULTING COP

MUMBAI : Suresh Jadhav, the president of the Republican Party of India (RPI), his brother Sharad Jadhav and Ramshivar Rathod were arrested by the Palghar police on Friday night for assaulting a cop on duty. When produced before the Palghar court on Saturday, the three accused have been remanded in judicial custody, said PI Bhaskar Pukhle of Palghar police station.

The police had issud a notice to Jadhav to be present for questioning in a  union matter, which the RPI has in the factory located on Mahim Road in Palghar. The issue is disputed by the Industrial Court, Thane which had ordered Jadhav not to enter the factory premises, but still the accused alongwith his workers had entered the factory and created a ruckus,said PI Pukhle. Jadhav had taken law into his hands and violated the court order, so we issued a notice to him to be present before us,he said. The factory owner on 10 January had lodged a complaint against Jadhav for rioting and extortion,said the police. Jadhav also filed cross complaint against the owner in this regard,said police. 

When Jadhav came on Friday night for questioning, he was pitch drunk and assaulted PSI V S Khatele on duty and there was a scene at the police station, and we had to register complaint under Section 353 (obstructing government servant on duty), 186(Obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), 189(threat of injury to public servant)., 352 (assault) of the IPC and arrested him and two others on Friday night and when produced before the Palghar court, the trio accused have been remanded in judicial custody, said Pukhle. The accused Jadhav was pitch drunk and had assaulted the cop, hence we had to take action,said the official,and we are awaiting the medical report in this regard.
